Dr. Christopher Woollam, MD
Sports Medicine Physician (WPO/UTM)
Sports medicine interests me because it unites my two great passions—sport and the practice of medicine. As a life-long athlete, I have found this marriage of medicine and sport to be the perfect job. It gives me the chance to manage, educate and empower individuals needing help in returning to their athletic endeavours.
While working in my family practice about twenty years ago, I was asked by a sports orthopedic surgeon to cover some of his patients while he was overseas working with Hockey Canada. On his return, he asked if I was interested in sports medicine and my answer was a resounding “yes”. I took up the prospect and have never looked back—this is the most gratifying job I have ever had.
I am a graduate of the University of Ottawa Medical School, serving three-and-a-half years in the military afterwards. Upon completion of my Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine I went on to work or volunteer at many events and for many organizations, including the Mississauga Marathon, the Toronto Marathon, AHL and OHL hockey and the Pan American games, amongst others. I am also the cofounder of The Sports Clinic.
Dr. Woollam will cease practice at The Sports Clinic as of December 31, 2018.
